After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the number of people in the U.S. per year that are at risk for sudden cardiac arrest
- Describe risk factors associated with sudden cardiac arrest
- Recognize the association of coronary artery disease with sudden cardiac arrest
- Relate reduced left ventricular ejection fraction with sudden cardiac arrest
- Achieve a comprehensive understanding about what is a wearable defibrillator vest, its mechanism of action, its indications for use and clinical benefits.
- Discuss the key clinical and patient compliance benefits of constant monitoring
- Achieve an understanding of Medicare indications and reimbursement guidelines
- Outline protocols and define the nurses’ responsibilities for use of a wearable defibrillator vest within a clinical setting.
